Orders on witness and jury rolls for Shays' Rebellion, 1787-1811.

One outcome of Shay's Rebellion was a large number of trials for treason and sedition for those involved in the insurrection. Trials were held, primarily in 1787, in Suffolk, Worcester, Essex, Hampshire, Berkshire, and Middlesex counties. Expenses for these prosecutions were assumed by the General Court per Resolves 1788, May Sess, c 20 (June 10, 1788) and paid per Resolves 1788, Dec Sess, c 72 (Feb. 2, 1789). Series consists of orders for payment directed to the state treasurer by trial jurors, witnesses, or court officers and usually naming the defendant or court involved, and two account books relating to such payments.
